As the UK embraced the start of 2021, Sensor Tower data provides an insightful look into the performance of popular delivered meal kits and specialty foods apps on a unified platform. Here's what we observed for the first quarter.

HelloFresh: Meal Kit Delivery, a leading name in the meal kit delivery sector, showed a significant initial spike in downloads, starting at 15K in the last week of December 2020 and peaking at 28K in the first week of January 2021. Downloads then gradually decreased to 20K by the end of March. Weekly active users (WAUs) followed a more positive trend, increasing from 165K to nearly 201K in late February, before a slight dip to 200K towards the end of March.

Gousto experienced a similar pattern in downloads, with an initial jump to 12K at the beginning of January, then a decline to 7K by the end of March. WAUs for Gousto presented a more stable outlook, starting at 35K and reaching a high of 47K in early March, with minor fluctuations, ending the quarter at 45K.

Vivino: Buy the Right Wine not only serves as a marketplace but also a community for wine enthusiasts. Revenue for Vivino showed growth from 18K to 47K USD by the end of the quarter, with a notable jump to 65K USD mid-March. Downloads saw a decline from 4K at the year's start to 3K by March's close, while WAUs had a decrease from 44K to 28K in the same period.

Mindful Chef downloads began at 2.5K and saw a drop to 2K in early January, followed by a further dip to just over 2K by quarter's end. The app didn't report any revenue and WAUs data was not available.

Lastly, The Midnight Delivery observed a peak in downloads at 2.5K in mid-January, which then fell to just over 800 by the end of March. Similar to Mindful Chef, there was no reported revenue or WAUs data.
